If you are someone who enjoys a challenging role, working across a wide portfolio and being involved right at the heart of things you will be interested in this unique opportunity to join our client as Director of Business Development. Working as part of the Executive team and reporting to the Chief Executive you will be responsible for the development of the charity’s strategic and business plans, ensuring that they are aware of potential new business opportunities and are developing service responses that keep them amongst the leading providers of advocacy.

day. They are a registered charity dedicated to promoting equality, challenging unfairness and giving disadvantaged and vulnerable clients access to high quality advocacy services.
A key part of your role will involve the preparation of tenders and bids to a high standard and their ideal candidate will have had significant experience of successful bid-writing. You will also lead on strategy and activities to raise the profile of the charity, building their reputation as an influential voice in public sector policy.
You will line manage three Development Managers, coaching and supporting them to realise their maximum potential and to meet the team’s objectives.
Our client is looking for a highly organised and hard working professional with excellent presentation and problem solving skills, good IT skills, a positive approach and the ability to think creatively and act flexibly. With significant experience in Business development at a senior level, and with knowledge and understanding of the Public and Third sectors, you will possess excellent communication and presentation skills and will understand what it takes to be an effective leader in an organisation of this size.
You will already have significant knowledge of marketing and promotion theory, methods and practice as well as experience of effective fundraising and will be confident in leading in the development of strategies for these.
They currently provide a range of advocacy services across the South & East of England, London and the Midlands & North and travel will be required across the UK in support of their bids, although your normal office base will be at their Head office in Stevenage.
The closing date for this position is 13 June 2010. Interviews will likely to be held in Stevenage.
